Middle School serves students from 5th through 8th grade.
AALC provides teachers in the Lower and Middle School with the flexibility to build or select their own curriculum that provides students unique and individualized learning opportunities while meeting state learning standards. AALC also utilizes the Eureka Math curriculum for 2nd-8th grade.
AALC’s Middle School class has a class size of 15 students of varying grade levels. This design allows for beneficial socialization and mentoring opportunities across grades and ages. Middle school is taught by a homeroom teacher and a full-time teaching assistant, providing students with excellent access to guidance and assistance throughout the day. Our goal is to maintain this ideal ratio for the future. Our lessons consist of themes to encourage connections across disciplines. For example, the theme of the week may be “gold”. History, social studies, science, and often math and ELA lessons, will focus on this topic. We are intentional about including social and environmental lessons in our curricula and look for opportunities for positive contributions to our community. We are a strong and flexible community of learners, where every student can thrive!
